Our Middle Years’ vision is to guide and support our learners to be internationally minded, equipped with the lifelong learning skills to fully engage in the ever changing world we live in. Our learners focus on a combination of academic, personal and international learning goals; the development of personal dispositions are integral to preparing them for their next stage of learning.
We use the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) which is specifically designed around the critical needs of the adolescent brain. We provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences that conceptually link all subjects through the chosen Big Idea.
The IMYC uses abstract, conceptual themes to provide a focus for learning. These conceptual themes, which each last for six weeks, encourage learners to think about their meaning and connection through their subject and personal learning. Each unit incorporates opportunities for regular journaling to encourage learners to reflect and make links across subjects, helping them to develop an understanding of how the Big Idea relates to them personally and to the world around them.
